This sport has also inspired several types of art including movies, Tv series, songs, etc. In this article, we will talk about characters that have played their sporty part in specific anime series through skateboarding. Most of these characters belong to the same set of entertaining anime series. As of now, there is not much anime that has taken up the challenge of sporting a skateboard for a story in front of their audience. One such anime is directed by Gorō Taniguchi and Toshinori Fukushima and goes by the name of Skate-Leading Stars. This anime is originally inspired by manga. Another such anime outlined with the trace of this similar sport is called “SK8 The Infinity’. The virtual mise-en-scene is set up in Okinawa. This anime was directed by Hiroko Utsumi and ran under the producers named Masanori Miyake, Kyōko Uryū, Subaru Tanaka, and Akihiro Sotokawa. It ran on networks like ANN or Animax Asia in the year 2021 from the months of January to April. It has many adventurous twists and turns. The storyline is based on a fight called ‘S’ where a bunch of very hard-working skaters participates. They are all very risky and take on dangerous with ultimate bravery. Another creative anime that follows this sport with an innovative twist. This anime is called Yuri On Ice which is about a competitive ice skater. Let’s discuss the characters that live by skating in the anime world.
1. Ainosuke Shindo
A notable skater who goes by the name ‘ Adam’ plays the ultimate antagonist in the series of ‘Sk8 The Infinity’. He seems to keep his skater identity under the covers because his original job is as a politician. He has blue hair with matching blue eyes that compliment his red eyes on the white skin. He is ruthlessly manipulative while skating against his opponents. His tactics include the remarkable “love hug” technique and immense control of his speed. His skating costume is very vibrant as he wears a red jacket and red waistcoat stitched in a criss-cross manner with golden thread. The jacket has puffed-up sleeves that give him the look of a powerful skater. This character was bought to life by Takehito Koyasu in Japanese and David Wild in English.
2. Hiromi Higa
This character goes by the name of ‘Shadow’ in the SK8 series and is voiced by Kenta Miyake in Japanese and Chris Guerrero in English. He is another surprising character with a high duality rate of being warm and innocent but also wild and experimental. This is very evident in the fact that he named himself “dynamite flower”. His tactic included using distraction as the best attack. Off the skating course, he is a polite florist which is totally contradictory to his skater personality. He has a very wild appearance as a skater of a rock-punk rockstar with his red hair spiked upwards and horn-shaped green stroked all over his eyes.
3. Langa Hasegawa
Langa Hasegawa who went by the snow identity in the same SK8 show has been voiced by Chiaki Kobayashi in Japanese and Howard Wang in English. He is one of the most significant characters and players of the ‘S’ race. He grew up knowing skateboarding but gave it up since his father’s death. He is shown to have a combined ancestral generation of Japanese and Canadian both. The influence of the lead characters sways his vulnerability towards the sport and makes him dive into the thrill of it. He is a high-schooler with lengthy sky-blue hair. His perks include being able to snowboard and the advanced skills of a skateboarder.
4. Reki Kyan
Reki is the focus character of SK8 The Infinity and is infinitely passionate about skateboarding. He is given voice by Tasuku Hatanakain Japanese and Matt Shipman in English. He has a talent in this field and brings creativity to the show as a high-schooler who works part-time. He customizes his own decks at his part-time job. He is shown to go through adolescent character development. He is the one who also inspires his friends to skate. He has red spiky hair and is high on accessorizing himself as he also sports a headband and wristbands to add oomph to his look. Michinori Chiba, the character designer of this series added the right oomph to his look with the accessories.

5. Miya Chinen
Chinen is also a crucial character in the SK8 series and is friends with Riken. She is obsessed with video games and has an equal adoration for cats. He is created by the voice acting of Takuma Nagatsuka in Japanese and Ry McKeand in English. She is meant to represent the nation of Japan in the Olympics and has a compact and commendable set of talents. She is also in high school. He is a young kid of twelve years old but that did not from being a surprisingly stunning skater who has a lot of flexible and sporty techniques.
6. Kaoru Sakurayashiki
Kaoru is an interesting character in the series of SK8 series and is given voice by Hikaru Midorikawa in Japanese and Daman Mills in English. His hair color seems to be at par with his akter name because his hair color is red and his ‘S” name is Cherry Blossom. His recognition is around the identity of a skilled Artificial Intelligence calligrapher. He has long pink hair with attractive body proportions. He stands out with his erudition and the AI skateboard named Carla. Carla can efficiently judge the environment and help Kaoru make the necessary moves.

7. Kojiro Nanjo
This character goes by the skater name of Joe in the SK8 series and is skillfully Voiced by: Yasunori Matsumoto in Japanese and Jonah Scott in English. He is Cherry Blossom’s rival even tho he has been childhood friends with him. He lives two lifestyles with the same personality aesthetic. He is a warm and bubbly owner of an Italian restaurant in his daily but also an ‘s’ race that is high-functioning and has terrifying skating skills. He has broad shoulders under his dark green wavy and layered hair.
8. Tadashi Kikuchi
Another strong character in the series of ‘Sk8’ is Tadashi who goes by the skater name of Snake. He is the secretary of the skater named snake. He is also taught snake to skate. He is Voiced by: Kensho Ono in Japanese and Brandon Johnson in English. This black-haired character in a formal black suit has a very steady control of his movements even while skating. His skating is very graceful and elegant to look at.
9. Yuuri Katsuki
This is a character from an anime with a fresh theme of ice-skating. Similar to the movements of boarding it also has heavy usage of skating techniques but opposes to boarding there are skating boots instead of a board and the body weight is divided between two legs instead of one like in skate-boarding. This interesting character has been given voice expression by Toshiyuki Toyonaga and Japanese and Josh Grelle in English. He is a reserved adult who is not blessed since birth with skating but he works tirelessly to be better and become like his idol.

10. Yukimitsu Mochizuki
Yukimitsu Mochizuki is the lead and focused character of the Skate-Leading series who was brought to life by the voices of Natsuki Hanae in Japanese and Meli Grant in English. He is an eminent student of the school called Ionodai High School. He has a very interesting visual appeal as his pink hair is in the form of a fishtail braid over his shoulders.
11. Kensei Maeshima
The character of Kensei also belongs to the series of Skate-leading stars and is voiced by Yuma Uchida in Japanese Stephen Fua in English. He is a self-conceited character that is also qualified for a skate. Being a high-school student, he is yet to learn the humble ways of the world. But in the Ionodai High School, he learns important values of life and skating.
12. Koyomi Kyan
This is a hidden skating taken in the series of SK8 The Infinity. This is a female skater and the younger sister of the lead character called Reki. Sayaka Senbongi was cast to act out the part of Koyomi with voice. She is mostly styled in summer tops with shorts and pigtails to complete her young look. Nothing remarkable about this character’s skating skills has been shown but being his skater brother’s sister, she is well-versed with skateboards. She has noticeable control over skateboarding.
