Is the 365 Days 2 Release Date Announced?

In June of last year, Netflix premiered “365 Days,” also known as “365 Dni” and “the Polish ‘Fifty Shades of Grey,” after a cinematic release in Poland and a more limited run in the United Kingdom. Blanka Lipiska, who wrote the novel and directed the film, says that the plot is 85 percent “true,” and the film quickly became a staple on Netflix’s Top 10 lists in more than 90 countries after cinematographer Bartek Cierlica described it to Variety as a modern-day Beauty and the Beast (via Deadline).

However, this was a critically condemned film. Rotten Tomatoes awards a 0 percent Tomatometer score to a Sicilian mafioso who takes a woman captive and allows her to fall in love with him for a year. It gets a 29 percent approval rating from the general public. The site’s reviews describe the film as “thoroughly horrible,” “laughably unpleasant,” and “an exercise in cinematic self-flagellation.” Other critics have quickly identified the toxic implications of Stockholm Syndrome and rape culture.

This movie has an intriguing steaminess that stems from the chemistry of its key performers (and all the BDSM action). A sequel and a third installment are now conceivable as a result of Netflix’s success.

Despite the lack of a release date, a sequel to “365 Days” has been speculated since it debuted on Netflix in June 2020, and actor Michele Morrone revealed the news in an exclusive fan video for HalaHi, the Middle Eastern counterpart of Cameo (via TMZ). Blanka Lipiska, the film’s writer, gave Oprah Daily a peek of the sequel in February. However, Netflix’s Originals label has taken over film production, which has shaken things quite a bit.

A sequel was supposed to start filming in Sicily in August 2020, however, it has been postponed owing to COVID-19 regulations (via Oprah Daily).

According to sources and reports, filming on both sequels will begin in May 2021 and will continue back-to-back.

The process would begin in Poland, with the final assembly taking place in Italy. According to various internet sources, production could begin as early as June 29, 2021, in Warsaw, Mazowieckie, Poland.

Originally, the film was supposed to play in cinemas before being released on Netflix, but Netflix has cut out the middleman. As a result, the sequels, which are set to be released in 2022, will almost definitely be distributed solely through Netflix.

365 Days 2 Expected Cast

As Michele Morrone intimated earlier in the season, a male protagonist returns to “365 Days.” Morrone plays Massimo, an infamous crook who lives in a beautiful mansion and imprisons his girlfriend throughout the film. Laura (Ann-Maria Sieklucka), Massimo’s love interest, will also return. Magdalena Lamparska has revealed that she will reprise her role as Laura’s lifelong friend Olga. The supporting cast is anticipated to reprise their roles in the sequel.

Simone Susinna, an Italian actor, will play a pivotal part in the sequel. In an unexpected twist, his presence sparks a love triangle that takes center stage in the sequel film. Blanka Lipiska co-wrote it like she did the previous film. The original film’s directors, Barbara Biaows and Tomasz Mandes will return for Part 2.

Because there are two more books in the series on which “365 Days” is based, the ending of the film does not qualify as a “cliffhanger.” Massimo and Laura start over in the second book. Marcelo “Nacho” Matos (Susinna) kidnaps Laura after learning she is pregnant and they marry. (Never do this again!) As a result, she is also charmed with Nacho. Voilà! Right away, there’s a love triangle. Laura and the baby’s lives are in jeopardy, and there are whispers that Massimo has an evil twin.

There’s no telling if it’ll be worse than the previous installment, but the “hot” component is what keeps fans coming back for more, and we can expect more of the same in Part 3.

According to Deadline, some of the first film’s more contentious ideas may be toned down under Netflix‘s cautious eye. If that is the case, fans will know a year from now.
