Beowulf Season 1 Cast
The antagonists, Grendel, and his mother, played by Crispin Glover and Angelina Jolie. Beowulf is played by Ray Winstone. Winstone was cast by Zemeckis after watching him in the 2003 ITV serial Henry VIII, in which he played the titular role. King Hrothgar, played by Anthony Hopkins Hopkins stated in an interview that he was unsure what accent Hopkins should use for the role of Hrothgar because Zemeckis is an American. Unferth, played by John Malkovich One of Malkovich’s acquaintances who had previously worked with Zemeckis “spoke very highly of him,” thus he became interested in the film. I’d always thought he was a fascinating and forward-thinking director.
