Whenever you think about the word Detective, what crosses your mind? When I think about it. If it’s a book then, of course, Agatha Christie; Comic, Tintin and Movie Sherlock Holmes. Right? These are the things that always hit right across whenever someone mentions the Word Detective. At Least it’s for me.
The Detective, crime, mystery genre is really an interesting combination for all detective lovers. When we think about a detective; a picture of a man with specs, a long overcoat, a large mustache, and a magnifying glass always comes to our mind. But times have changed now if you look at the character only later do you realize that he or she is a detective.
This genre piques the interest of many, and even yours as well if you are currently going through this write-up. So, today I am going to discuss the detective shows that you can enjoy on Netflix. First thing first, if you haven’t subscribed to Netflix, go do it now! Then start streaming the shows that I am just about to mention.
Below I will put down some of the interesting detective shows that you must binge-watch. And if you have already watched some of them then, let us know how you felt while you enjoy the rest.

1. Lucifer (2016-2021)
Can’t simply move away, without mentioning this one right. This one surely tops the list. The show follows the story of the Devil himself who after being cast away from hell is having a hearty life in L.A. in his own bar. Drowned in liquor, party, women, and fun he is having a gala time in Lux, the bar he owns now. Everything is whole and hearty for him until his world falls apart when he meets the Detective, Chloe Decker.
What will happen, when he ends up saving her life and starts working alongside her. Together they solve each new case of the LAPD department. And what will happen when Chloe discovers that he is the Devil himself and makes him vulnerable whenever she is near.
Stream the 6 seasons show on Netflix. This show will blow your mind with its amazing storyline and the characters’ roles. Rated 8.1 by IMDb the crime drama runs for 42 mins each. 2. Lupin (2021)
This show is currently on air, with a total of 3 seasons, but 2 are available as of now. 3 is yet to arrive. Rated 7.5 by IMDb, the show runs for 45 mins each. You will get to see; Omar Sy as Assane Diop, Clotilde Hesme as Juliette Pellegrini, Ludivine Sagnier as Claire and other faces as well. The show won 2 awards and went for nominations as well.
The action crime drama focuses on a guy named Lupin, a thief who is set out to avenge the wrongful accusation of his father caused by a wealthy family. His father was wrongly accused of stealing a diamond necklace who later committed suicide out of shame.
Inspired by a book given by his father on his birthday, he sets out on his mission. What happens next, go and find out! Do watch the drama folks, you are going to love it.
3. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013-2021)
This is an American drama following the genre of crime, comedy, and Police procedural sitcoms. The show is set in the 99th Precinct of New York City. In the Police Department in Brooklyn. The drama captures the story of a team of detectives with Captain Raymond on the lead. He is the new commanding officer. Watch the drama and enjoy the sitcom wrapped in mystery as you roll in laughter. The show stars; Andy Samberg as Jake Peralta, Terry Crews as Terry Jeffords, and Stephanie Beatriz as Rosa Diaz.

4. Shetland (2013)
With a total number of 6 seasons and 32 episodes as of yet, the show is going forward to a 7th. Rated 8.2 by IMDb the British crime drama series runs for 1 hr each. The show features; Douglas Henshall as Jimmy Pérez, Steven Robertson as Sandy Wilson, and Alison O’Donnell as Alison “Tosh” MacIntosh. The show made its debut back in 2013 and it is still on the air.
The story follows DI Jimmy Perez and his team of detectives following and solving the crimes of Shetland. Using their special skills, they solve one case after the other. Don’t miss the series guys. 5. How to Get Away with Murder (2014 -2020)
The American thriller has successfully completed its 6 seasons release with 90+ episodes. The runtime of each episode is 43 mins. The thriller mystery is a must-watch for all. If you haven’t watched this one yet then, at least add this one to your watchlist. Created by Peter Nowalk, the series tells us about a group of law students who are very ambitious when it comes to their job. But suddenly, they along with their professor get involved in a twisted murder plot which ends up changing their life. How will they come out of this web? Will they be able to solve it? Start watching, to find the answers.
Rated 8.1 by IMDb, the series stars; Billy Brown as Nate Lahey, Viola Davis as Annalise Keating, and Alfred Enoch as Wes Gibbins. You will also get to see some other guest stars as well.

6. The Sinner (2017-2021)
The show finished airing not long after, just last year only. The show captured the eyes of many and received a lot of good reviews. The audience utters three words all the time, when this one is mentioned, ‘a good crime’. Rated by 7.9 by IMDb, the series has 4 seasons with a total number of 32 episodes. The runtime of each episode is 45 mins. The crime drama features; Bill Pullman, Dohn Norwood, Jessica Hecht, and others.
The Sinner is actually an anthology, which shows why and how people commit crimes. Detective Harry is the mastermind behind this, trying to solve the cases he also analyses the reasons behind these. And not to forget the crimes are indeed heinous, revenge or crime of passion or some other. Go on folks, watch it now! It will blow you with its unexpected plotline.
7. iZombie (2015-2019)
How can I not mention this one! This series is beyond words of praise. This is a yes for everything. Horror? Romance? Crime? Comedy? Detective? I will cry out a huge yes! So, will you if you have watched it, and if not then after you have watched it. Rated 7.8 by IMDb, the series has 5 seasons with 71 total episodes. Each episode runs for 42 mins.
Olivia is a medical student, who suddenly turned into a zombie while she went to attend a boat party. What?? A zombie? Yes! But being supernatural has its perks. Now she helps the police in solving cases and eats the brains of corpses she autopsies. So now a zombie and an ex-medical student her skills and intelligence help her to survive to the fittest. See, how can you miss such a drama right? Go go go!
The series features; Rose McIver as Olivia, our dear Miss Zombie, Malcolm Goodwin as Clive Babineaux, and Rahul Kohli as Ravi Chakrabarti.
8. Gotham (2014 -2019)
Starring; Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, and Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, the action drama deserves a space in your watchlist. The story revolves around Detective James Gordon who solves cases in Gotham City. It was captured long before Batman arrived in the field as a protector. What happens along and how the story revolves is most definitely for you to watch.
Rated 7.8 by IMDb, the series has 5 seasons with 100+ episodes. The action, superhero, and crime drama run for approximately 42-43 mins.

9. The Alienist (2018-2020)
Rated 7.7 by IMDB, the series runs for 2 seasons, with the series completing its premier last year only. So, you can call this as fresh as new. With a total number of 18 episodes, the runtime of each series is 1 hour. The Crime drama won awards as well. Starring the show are; Daniel Brühl as Laszlo Kreizler, Brian Geraghty as Theodore Roosevelt and not to forget, Luke Evans as John Schuyler Moore.
What happens when a newspaper illustrator and a criminal psychologist come together to solve crimes and find solutions? Set in the 19th century New York they try to find the city’s serial killers. This is one of those shows that you will get addicted to. So, without further delay go and watch!
10. Parfum (2018-2018)
The series has only one season with only 6 episodes, running for 45 mins each. The German Tv show is rated 7.1 by IMDb. The drama, thriller stars; Friederike Becht as Nadja Simon, Juergen Maurer as Matthias Köhler and Wotan Wilke Möhring as Prosecutor Grünberg.
This is a strange show which follows the murder of a singer whose scent gland hairs have been removed. Now together the detectives try to solve the case, who knew the singer at one time. The series is claimed to be an adaptation of a novel, do watch the show.

11. Paranoid (2016)
This is another mini Tv series that you can complete in one sitting. With only one season the series has 8 episodes running 45 mins each. Rated 6.7 by IMDb, the show narrates the story of a female GP, who was murdered in a playground. A team of detectives gets assigned to solve the murder, with a series of events and mysterious notes. This crime thriller will give you goosebumps in this chilly winter. Go ahead and give this one a watch.
The show stars; Robert Glenister as DC Bobby Day, Indira Varma as DS Nina Suresh, and Neil Stuke as DI Michael Niles.
12. Collateral (2018)
This is the last series that I will talk about today. Another mini Tv series that deserves a place on your list, the show received a rating of 6.8 from IMDb. The crime drama features; Carey Mulligan as DI Kip Glaspie, Billie Piper as Karen Mars, Nicola Walker as the Reverend Jane Oliver, and certainly not the least, John Simm as David Mars MP.
The story highlights the detectives from London who follow the murder of a pizza delivery guy. Which ends up opening several other cross-section cases in the London society. The drama runs for only 1 season with 4 episodes. The runtime of each episode is 60 mins.
