Black Earth Rising Season 2 Story

Eve Ashby, an adoptive mother, and international human rights lawyer works in the same London law practice as her adopted daughter, Kate Ashby, who works as a legal investigator in the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide. Michael Ennis, a well-known international lawyer, supervises Kate’s work. When their mother chooses to take up the case of Simon Nyamoya, an African militia leader accused of heinous crimes against humanity and brought before the International Criminal Court, it marks a watershed moment in Michael and Kate’s lives (ICC). Kate and her mother have been suffering for years over the atrocities of the genocide, and now her mother is seeking charges against the former Rwandan general-turned-mercenary who was lauded for his efforts to put an end to the killings in the DRC. She’s already having trouble getting along with her mother, so she urges her to drop the charges against the man she feels played a significant role at the end of the Rwandan genocide.

This was something fresh for me to think about. Seeing my own ignorance and involvement, my thoughtlessness, I began to perceive others I thought were careless or [blamed] and realized the common risk. I’ve had to use two glasses at the same time to see the good and terrible in everything and everyone.
