Hell’s Kitchen is an American television reality show. It is a cooking reality show which premiered on May 30, 2005. The host of the series is celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, who has created and has also appeared in the British version of the same series by the same name. The show has a rating of 7.1/10 on IMDb. Inspired by the show, a chain of Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen restaurants has been opened.
Let’s now know how this show goes. Every season, we have two teams of chefs who compete against each other and the winner gets rewarded with a job position of head chef at a restaurant. They all work in the kitchen of the restaurant setup in the television studio. In every episode, a single contestant is selected for elimination. There are 20 participants initially and one among them is chosen as the winner.
At the beginning of the season, the host, Gordon Ramsay bifurcates the participants into two teams. Except for, the first, eighteenth, and twenty-first seasons, the bifurcation takes place in a way in which women are put on the red team and men are put on the blue team. Each chef has a panel of the color of the team to which it belongs on the shoulders. The team members stay together for most of the tasks in the season but, the host may shift some of the members to the other teams if the number of members in the two teams is uneven or if he wants to experiment and some exciting twists to the challenges.
Every episode first has the challenges, then a dinner service which is followed by the elimination of the contestant who did not perform up to the mark in the challenge. When only 5-6 chefs remain at the end, they are all given black panels and compete individually until two of them are left in the competition and one among them becomes the winner.
The series has 20 seasons and the 21st season is ongoing and premiered in September 2022. It has been subtitled as Battle of the Ages.
The episodes of the series have a running time of around 41-44 minutes.
