Is Game Change Based On A True Story?

Game Change is based on a true story about the 2008 United States presidential election campaign of John McCain. It shows us how Sarah Palin made a wrong decision for the President’s running mate. Screenwriter Danny Strong said they interviewed almost everyone who was present during the 2008 campaign. He said there were 25 people they talked to to make the film accurate. However, they could not secure an interview with McCain, Palin, and Mark Slater, the campaign advisor. The creators corroborated what the 25 people said in their interviews with other 10-12 people.

They did not leave any stone unturned lest they get the facts wrong. After its release, John McCain said he did not watch the movie and spent his time playing hockey. He thinks the book the movie took its inspiration from is a complete fabrication with unproven facts. He further added he rarely uses coarse language, unlike what the director showed in Game Change.

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin and her partisans disliked the movie and did not attempt to hide it. She said she would not watch Game Change since her family has other priorities. They know what they should focus on and which ones to avoid. Palin’s priority was her son’s well-being, and she was happy he called her from Afghanistan.
