Born on January 21, 1956, Virginia Elizabeth “Geena” Davis is an American producer and actor. She was born in Wareham, Massachusetts. Her father William F. Davis was a civil engineer and church deacon, and her mother, Lucille was a teacher’s assistant. Both her mother and father were from Vermont. Davis has one elder brother Danforth.
She discovered her interest in music at an early age. Following her interest, she learned to play flute and piano. She played organ so well that she was an organist at her Congregational church in Wareham. She completed her schooling at Wareham High School. She was an exchange student in Sandviken, Sweden, where she became fluent in Swedish and had a good command of it.
She studied at New England College, then earned a bachelor’s degree in 1979, in drama from Boston University. She started her work after university for window mannequins at Ann Taylor. Then, she signed with New York’s Zoli modeling agency to take a step forward in her career.
She started her acting career with the film Tootsie (1982). She also starred in the thriller The Fly (1986), which later became one of her first box office hits. She also won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the drama Accidental Tourist (1988).
For the film Thelma & Louise (1991), she received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She also earned a Golden Globe Award nomination, for a sports film, A League of Their Own (1992).
She played the role of the first female president of the United States in the television series Commander in Chief (2005–2006) which made her win the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama.
In 2004, Davis laid the foundation for the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media. The institute collaboratively works with the entertainment industry to contribute to increasing the presence of female characters in media. She launched the annual Bentonville Film Festival in 2015, through this organization and also executive produced the documentary This Changes Everything in 2018. It was because of the organization that she was awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award bestowed by the Academy Awards in 2019 and also with the Governor’s Award given by the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2022.

She then married filmmaker Renny Harlin on September 18, 1993. Harlin had directed her in Cutthroat Island and The Long Kiss Goodnight. Davis filed for divorce on August 26, 1997. It was just a day after her assistant gave birth to Harlin’s child. The divorce was finalized in June 1998.
In 1998, she started dating an American – Iranian craniofacial plastic surgeon. She had allegedly married him on September 1, 2001. The couple has three children a daughter, Alizeh who was born in April 2002, and fraternal twin sons, Kaiis and Kian who were born in May 2004. Jarrahy filed for divorce from Davis in May 2018, stating that they had been separated since November 15, 2017. Davis responded to this by filing a petition claiming that she was never legally married to Jarrahy.
Davis’s relationship journey has not been a smooth one. As per the information received, the actress is currently in a relationship with anyone.
