At the end of the series, it is revealed that Rambo, a thief who happened to be in the park at the time of Joe’s death, witnessed Maya shoot Joe. Maya, driven by the truth about Claire’s death. She confronts Joe in their usual spot in the park, presses him for answers, and ultimately shoots him. Notably, Maya utilizes the very same gun that Joe used to kill Claire. To cover up her actions, Maya fabricates a story for the police, implicating two men, Rambo and PJ, the local soccer coach’s son, in Joe’s murder. The arrest of Maya is precipitated by Rambo’s admission of witnessing the shooting. It corroborated by the presence of identical bullets from both murders.

Driven by the truth about Claire’s death, Maya confronts Joe in their usual spot in the park, presses him for answers, and ultimately shoots him, utilizing the very same gun that Joe used to kill Claire. The deranged plan, orchestrated by Joe’s suspicious mother Judith (Joanna Lumley). It involves hiring individuals to make Maya question herself, lose her mind, and eventually confess to being the murderer. In the end, this plan, though stretching the boundaries of credulity, proves somewhat successful.

Nanny Cam Involvement and Claire’s Murder

Joe ended up on the nanny cam when Judith Burkett, Joe’s mother, instructed two of her household staffers, Izabella and Luka, to create a deepfake of Joe. Using a video from Maya and Joe’s wedding, they superimposed his image onto the footage. Judith’s motive was to rattle Maya, suspecting she was lying about Joe’s death, in hopes that Maya would slip up and confess the truth.

Joe, Maya’s husband, killed Maya’s sister, Claire. Claire, who worked at Burkett Pharmaceuticals, began to uncover the company’s crimes, including falsifying drug trials and distributing harmful drugs. She sought the help of Corey the Whistle, who had previously reported on Maya’s war crimes. Despite Claire persuading Corey not to release incriminating audio, Joe, also Claire’s colleague, realized she was onto the Burketts’ secrets. Joe then staged Claire’s murder as a robbery to cover his tracks.

Alexander Dosman and Tommy Dark’s Involvement

Claire’s ex-boyfriend, Alexander Dosman, fathered her child Louis, unbeknownst to him. Despite their past relationship, Alexander is unaware of his paternity until Abby and Daniel, Claire’s children, uncover the truth through a DNA test. When Abby confronts Alexander, he is completely unaware of his role as Louis’s father, who happens to be the assistant coach for Abby’s soccer team.

Tommy Dark, a former marine, runs a security firm and has been on the Burkett family’s payroll for 26 years. His involvement stems from an incident in 1996 when he was a captain on the yacht the night Maya’s brother-in-law, Andrew Burkett, died. Maya discovers that Joe pushed Andrew off the boat to cover up their involvement in the death of their classmate, Theo Mora. In the present, Tommy goes missing, and Maya and Corey trace him to a storage unit where they find him dead, revealing Joe as the perpetrator. Joe killed Tommy and used Maya’s car to transport the body, leading detectives Sami Kierce and Marty McGreggor to suspect Maya’s involvement in Tommy’s death.
