Ms. Marvel is the lead character of an American television miniseries Ms. Marvel created by Bisha K. Ali. The complete series is based on Marvel Comics featuring the character Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel. Ms. Marvel is the seventh television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) which has been produced by Marvel Studios. Ali is the head writer of this series with Adil & Bilall leading the directing team. The series is in continuation with the films of the franchise. The concept of this series revolves around Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old fangirl of the Avengers who is having problems in fitting in among people until things take an unexpected but positive turn and she gains her powers.

The series premiered on June 8, 2022, and consisted of 6 episodes. The average running time is 38-50 minutes. The series went on till July 13. The series was well appreciated and received very positive reviews from critics, especially for the amazing visuals and Vellani’s remarkable performance. The series is available for watching on Disney Plus.

The story series is about Kamala Khan a 16-year-old Pakistani-American who is extremely obsessed with superheroes, especially Captain Marvel. She is going through a lot and has difficulty in trying to fit in among people of her age.

Her life takes an unexpected turn when she discovers that she has inhuman genes and becomes Ms. Marvel. After she is upgraded to Captain Marvel, she leaves Ms. Marvel’s name free for the teenage superhero. Exciting news for the fans is that Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel are going to appear together in 2023 The Marvels.

One of the many things that are discussed about Ms. Marvel, is her sexuality. Her sexuality is a debatable topic and different people have different views about it. This article is going to clear things up which are confusing about her sexuality.

First of all, let us answer the question. Ms. Marvel is not gay. She is heterosexual and has a close lesbian friend. Ms. Marvel belongs to a Muslim immigrant family. Her mixed identity makes her a target of discrimination not only in America but in the rest of the world. She is a heterosexual who is attracted to boys and shows no attraction toward people of the same gender. However, Kamala’s dear friend Zoe Zimmer, a very popular girl in school is a lesbian. Zoe was initially indifferent toward Kamala but her attitude changed when she was on the verge of dying. She, later on, drops her cold attitude and becomes Kamala’s best friend. She also, later on, realizes that she is attracted to girls after which she ditches her boyfriend and emerges as a lesbian.

What started the rumor of Ms. Marvel being a lesbian was the confusion of some fans between Ms. Marvel and America Chavez/Miss America appeared in the comics in 2011. People confused Ms. Marvel with America Chavez/Miss America who was a lesbian and was the first Latina LGBTQ+ character who had her title. The confusion was understood as Ms. Marvel and Doctor Strange were released almost at the same time and both characters are American Minorities.

At first, we have Iman Vellani playing the lead character of Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel. She is a 16-year-old Pakistani-American high school student hailing from Jersey City. The young girl is an aspiring artist, and passionate gamer, and also very fondly writes superhero fan fiction about heroes like Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel. She is obsessed with superheroes.

Next, we have Matt Lintz playing the role of Bruno Carrelli who is Kamala’s best and loyal friend and a tech genius. He also has a crush on her. Yasmeen Fletcher is in the series as Nakia Bahadir who is another close friend of Kamala. She runs for a position on the mosque board.

Zenobia Shroff is playing Kamala’s mother and Yusuf’s wife Muneeba Khan. She is more strict and stern with Kamala than Yusuf. Mohan Kapur is in the series as Yusuf Khan,

Kamala’s father and Muneeba’s husband who is very compassionate, gentle, and kind. He is not very strict with his daughter.

Saagar Shaikh is in the series as Aamir Khan who is Kamala’s older brother. He is very closer to his sister and is a very religious man. He remains aloof most of the time.

Laurel Marsden is in the series as Zoe Zimmer. She is the most popular girl at Kamala’s high school and a social media influencer. She is also a lesbian. She was at first very rude and mean to Kamala but later on changed her attitude. After discovering that she is a lesbian, she dumps her boyfriend and emerges as a homosexual openly.

Azhar Usman is playing the role of Najaf,  a halal food vendor who is Kamala’s acquaintance. Rish Shah is in the series as Kamran, a boy who has a crush on Kamala. One of the reasons why he found himself so relatable to Kamala was that he was also discriminated against just like Kamala and always felt free to express his true self around her.

Arian Moayed is in the series as P. Cleary who is a Department of Damage Control (DODC) agent. Alysia Reiner is playing Sadie Deever who is also a DODC agent working with Cleary.

Laith Nakli is playing the role of Sheikh Abdullah who is an imam at Kamala’s mosque. Nimra Bucha is in the series as  Najma. She is Kamran’s mother, who is also the leader of the Clandestine trying to return to their home Noor dimension after being exiled on Earth.

Travina Springer has appeared in the series as Tyesha Hillman who is Aamir’s wife and Kamala’s sister-in-law.

Adaku Ononogbo is playing the character of Fariha. She is a member of the Clandestine who wields a spear.

Samina Ahmad is playing the role of Sana who is Kamala’s grandmother. She lives in Karachi, Pakistan. Zion Usman played the role of a young Sana.

Fawad Khan is in the series as Hasan who is Kamala’s great-grandfather. Mehwish Hayat is playing Aisha, who is Kamala’s great-grandmother, and the original owner of the bangle.

Farhan Akhtar is in the series as Waleed. He is the leader of the Red Daggers which is a group of vigilantes who wear red bandanas and wield throwing knives.

Aramis Knight is in the series as Kareem / Red Dagger. He is a member of the Red Daggers. He is a knight who had his training with a dialect coach so he could speak Urdu with absolute fluency and also have a typical Pakistani accent so that he appears like a kid from Karachi. He was really happy to represent the culture.

 Jordan Firstman has appeared in the series as school counselor Gabe Wilson. Anjali Bhimani and Sophia Mahmud have appeared in the series as Aunties Ruby and Zara.

In February 2021, the documentary series was announced by the name Marvel Studios: Assembled. The main objective of this documentary series was to go behind the scenes of the making of the MCU films and television series with cast members and additional creatives so that the fans get to know how the series was created. The special of this series, the name Assembled: The Making of Ms. Marvel, which mainly featured Vellani, was released on Disney+ on August 3, 2022.

The character of Ms. Marvel was indeed a very powerful one and gave the audience multiple reasons to love it.
