Two other female students were also living in the same rental home when the attacker killed all four. They were safe and sound. Madison Mogen and Xana Kernodle lived at the house, whereas Kaylee Goncalves had recently shifted somewhere else. Ethan Chapin was Xana’s boyfriend, and he was staying over the fateful night.

All four students were out late enjoying themselves and were home by two at night. According to a police report, Mogen and Goncalves took an Uber ride home. However, the authorities later changed it from an Uber ride to a private party. From 2:26 am to 2:52 am, Mogen and Goncalves called the latter’s former boyfriend about ten times.

The police ruled him out as a suspect after investigating the calls. One of the roommates probably woke up during the time of the murders. She heard one roommate raise a concern about some intruder in the house. When she awoke the second time, a male voice was assuring someone in Kernodle’s room. The third time she opened the door, she saw a black figure using the sliding door to exit.

Hopefully, the killer did not notice her and walked right past. The police found all four victims stabbed to death and blood on the walls. However, the perpetrator did not gag or restrain any of them. Authorities did not receive the news till noon when a student called to inform them. The remaining survivors did not inform the police before because they allegedly thought their friend was unconscious.
