Is The Family In Death Whisperer Real?

Yes, the family in Death Whisperer is real. The novel Death Whisperer was inspired by a story shared by Krittanon in the Thai discussion forum Pantip. Krittanon began his thread by stating that his mother told him a “true story” about her younger sister Yam, but he was unsure if it was real. According to the author, Yam was his aunt and the real-life inspiration for a possessed character in the novel.

When Yam, the author’s mother, and their siblings were children, Yam suddenly became ill after allegedly seeing a middle-aged black woman dressed in black. After falling ill Yam started acting strangely, which confused the author’s mother. She was a teenager at the time. One night, she supposedly saw Yam eating chicken entrails.

Many villagers came to see Yam at her home. One day, an old woman visits the home which worries the “medicine man” treating Yam. He told the family that the old woman was a “toy” who could negatively affect others’ lives, and it was best to keep her away from the house, especially because of Yam’s illness.

The family members of Krittanon could not sleep for several nights because of the old woman. The author’s mother and his siblings, including the elder brother Yak, dealt with the alleged presence of a woman around their house.

Yak tried his best to shoot down the woman with a gun but he failed time after time. The medicine man led Yak to her home Unfortunately, they found Yam there. After these events, a man called Mr. Phut in Krittanon’s thread goes to see the family.

What Happens To The Real Family In Death Whisperer?

Phut took his family to a nearby bamboo grove and told Yak and the others to cut it down. Yak followed Phut’s instructions and found several organs hidden in the grove. It was not clear if they were from animals or humans. Phut, then said Yam needed to go to a hospital, so Yak drove his sister to a nearby hospital, where she got medical care.

Unfortunately, Yam did not survive. While Yam was dying in the hospital, Krittanon’s mother said she saw a woman in a black shirt and sarong. The author mentioned that not many attended her funeral because there were rumours she was “eaten by ghouls.” Death Whisperer changes some events from Krittanon’s original story.

In the movie, Phut dies while taking Yam to the hospital, but that does not happen in real life. The scene where a spirit kills Paphan in the film is also fiction since the “medicine man” was alive, according to the author.

However, the depiction of Yam’s death is more accurate, as the doctor who treated her found her internal organs were torn. Krittanon’s mother, like the character Yad in the film, told her son she heard “Tee Yod” repeated at night but did not know what it meant.
