According to Pinturam Rai, Khanna was the one to kill her, while the others helped in covering it up. Sheena Bora is the daughter of Indrani Mukherjea and Siddhartha Das. She was born on 11 February 1987 in Guwahati, Assam, India, and has a brother named Mikhail. At the time of her murder, Sheena Bora was working at Mumbai Metro One in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

On 24 April 2012, she sent in a resignation letter to her office and took an absence of leave without any reason. Rahul Mukherjea, her stepbrother and then-boyfriend, also received a text message saying she wanted to end things. Indrani Mukherjea told everyone Sheena left for the USA to study.

However, upon Rahul’s suspicions, Mumbai Police went to interrogate the mother at her Worli residence in Mumbai. Indrani was out of India but later told the police Rahul was Sheena’s stalker. She went to the USA to escape him. The truth came to light on 21 August 2015 after the arrest of Shyamvar Pinturam Rai, Indrani Mukherjea’s driver, for possession of illegal weapons.

According to several reports, Rai confessed the whole story about Sheena Bora’s kidnapping and murder. Indrani Mukherjea was the mastermind, and she called Sanjeev Khanna, her ex-husband, to help her.

On 24 April 2012, after Rahul dropped Sheena off near National College on Linking Road, Indrani, Khanna, and Rai picked her up. Along the way, Khanna strangled her while the mother sat in the front. They dumped the body in a forest near the village of Gagode in Pen tehsil, Raigad, Maharashtra, India, after burning it.
