Mismatch Season 1 Recap

This feel-good sentiment in Mismatched provides unmistakable solace, but the series doesn’t settle for simplicity. Instead, it ambitiously strives to emulate the meaningful coming-of-age essence seen in shows like Sex Education.

Clearly inspired by its counterpart, mismatched introduces characters and storylines that echo familiarity, such as a same-sex romantic arc and a character navigating life in a wheelchair. However, unlike its inspiration, Mismatched falls short in delivering depth and much-needed humor.

Throughout, Mismatched left me with the sensation of “adults attempting to portray teenagers,” creating an outsider perspective. This stands in contrast to the organic feel of young adult shows from Dice Media (Operation MBBS, Firsts) or TVF (Hostel Daze, Kota Factory). Even when these shows don’t quite hit the mark, they maintain a sweetness and innocence in their DNA, qualities that feel conspicuously absent in the writing of Mismatched, penned by Gazal Dhaliwal, Aarsh Vora, and Sunayana Kumari.

Mismatch season 2 Plot

Prajakta Koli reprises her role as Dimple Ahuja, who, having severed ties with Rishi, grapples with the aftermath of the source code leak for her app, AntiSosh. Fixated on restoring her project, she juggles the stress of the last weeks of college, all the while observing her “ex-lover” navigate a new relationship.

Continuing Namrata’s (Devyani Shorey) narrative, the second chapter of Mismatched boldly tackles LGBTQ+ issues, addressing the public exposure and “shaming” she endured for expressing affection towards women.

In the realm of our protagonists’ “non-dates,” portrayed by Prajakta Koli and Rohit Saraf, a heated war of retaliation unfolds, each vying to see who will be the first to succumb to tears in this engaging and emotionally charged narrative.

Mismatch season 2 characters

Prajakta Koli leads the cast as Dimple Ahuja, navigating the aftermath of severed ties with Rishi and the source code leak for her app, AntiSosh.

Devyani Shorey takes on the role of Namrata, bravely continuing her character’s journey, addressing the public exposure and societal “shaming” she faced for expressing affection towards women. This promises to be a pivotal exploration of LGBTQ+ issues within the storyline.

Muskkaan Jaferi shines as the spirited character, while Taaruk Raina skillfully portrays the troubled troublemaker with inner turmoil. Vihaan Samat effortlessly embodies the quintessential NRI kid, bringing an appealing simplicity to the role.

Krithika and Devayani aptly capture the essence of their characters—the flashy social media enthusiast and the quietly loving girl with a secret, respectively.

Under the direction of Nipun Dharmadhikari and Akarsh Khurana, the series navigates its anticipated story tropes with ease.
