Early Life and Education of Playboi Carti

Jordan Terrell Carter was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 13, with sources differing on his birth year between 1995 and 1996. Growing up in the nearby suburb of Riverdale, Carter’s upbringing was marked by defiance. In a 2016 interview with Complex, he asserted, “My ma couldn’t tell me shit. Nobody could tell me shit.” This rebellious streak led him astray, steering him away from the pursuit of higher education after attending North Springs Charter High School in Sandy Springs.

Before his foray into rap, Carter harboured aspirations of becoming a basketball star. In an interview with The Fader, he likened himself to a young Allen Iverson, admitting to skipping practices in favour of honing his skills on the court. However, his basketball dreams were short-lived after a falling out with his coach, prompting him to shift his focus to music.

Carter’s path to success was fraught with obstacles. Regularly skipping classes to either work on his music or fulfil his job duties at H&M, he narrowly managed to graduate high school. Recounting his academic journey to The Fader, he revealed, “I was in class with freshmen finishing work, and if I finished the nine assignments before this time I could graduate.” Such was his precarious position that his graduation ceremony went unnoticed by his peers, a testament to his struggle to reach the finish line.

Romantic Relationships of Playboi Carti

In 2017, Playboi Carti briefly dated American model Blac Chyna. Their relationship was short-lived.

In 2018, Carti became romantically involved with Rubi Rose, a model and rapper known for her appearance in the music video for “Bad and Boujee” by Migos. An incident occurred where Carti allegedly fired a gun in the air after Rose hid his phone from him before a flight. Carti argued that his intention was not to harm Rose. They eventually broke up after Carti cheated on Rose with Blac Chyna.

Later in 2018, Carti started dating Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, whom he met while touring overseas. In December 2018, they moved in together in the Buckhead neighbourhood of Atlanta. Azalea gave birth to Carti’s son in 2020, but they split in December 2019. Azalea later revealed that Carti had cheated on her and missed their son’s birth. Carti refused to sign their son’s birth certificate.

Carti has two children: a son named Onyx and a daughter named Yves. As of June 2019, Carti is living and working in and around the Atlanta area after relocating from Los Angeles.
